Julian began playing the guitar at an early age, inspired by hard rock bands such as Metallica, Guns n Roses and AC/DC. As an adult he discovered an interest in Jazz, which led to the completion of a Bachelor of Music followed by a Masters in Music Education (Monash University).
As well as teaching guitar, Julian is a working professional musician, playing in a wide variety of groups and genres. He has recently toured internationally as a current member of Chunky Jam – one of Australia’s top corporate bands and is a regular fixture at Melbourne’s entertainment precinct, Crown Casino. Julian has played at major events such as the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix, the Melbourne Cup, The AFL Grand Final, the AFL Brownlow Medal, the Australian Open, and the Boxing Day Cricket Test Match.
Julian believes in a tailored approach to music education. He endeavours to listen to his students, understand what they enjoy about music, identify their musical goals, and then work together to make lessons fun, interesting and productive.
