Jess Mahler is one of The Blackburn Academy’s multi instrumentalists. Majoring in Saxophone and Clarinet, Jess also has experience with the Flute and Piano.
Since completing high school in 2015, Jess has been tutoring at regional music camps and workshops across Northern NSW. Jess moved to Melbourne in 2017 to study saxophone at Victoria University and is currently studying Jazz performance at Monash University.
Jess’ teaching approach aims to build solid fundamentals to help develop skills needed for all styles and exams. Jess is very passionate about live music therefore performance practice features prominently in her lessons. Jess believes this benefits all ages and skill levels. Jess also performs regularly with a variety of ensembles and bands across Melbourne. She has studied under many great Australian saxophonists such as Martha Baartz, Anton Delleca, Julius Hofstetter, Rob Burke, Mirko Guerrini and Julien Wilson.
